About Rank & File

Five countries.
One correct order.

A daily game of surprising comparisons. Put places in order, then discover what the numbers reveal.

Play five rounds each day. Arrange the countries from most to least, lock in your order, and explore the real values on the map. Each correctly ordered pair earns a point—up to ten per round, fifty per day.

The current collection contains 150 researched challenges, arranged into 30 daily sets. Sets repeat after the current rotation.

Our sources

Curiosity, with receipts.

Each question names a measure and a year. After you submit, the reveal shows the values, a little context, and a link to the source so you can explore further.

Rankings reflect the cited period and definitions, rather than necessarily today’s figures. Totals and per-person measures tell different stories; estimates can change as new data is published, and displayed values may be rounded.

Spotted something questionable? Use Report this question beneath the reveal to flag a number, a source, or unclear wording for review.
